Coggeshall Farm Museum is a living historical farm set on 40 acres that has been cultivated by Europeans since the late 17th century, and even earlier by Native Americans. The Museum's c. 1790 farmhouse overlooks an inlet of Narragansett Bay. Near to the farmhouse are a kitchen garden, pastures, stone springhouse and animal barns.

Heirloom breeds of cattle, pigs, sheep, and chickens roam the grounds. In the garden early varieties of fruits and vegetables sprout surrounded by an abundant border of herbs. Further afield, behind a hand split picket fence, is an orchard of Roxbury Russet, Westfield Seek-no-further, and Rhode Island Greening Apples. Antique and reproduction tools - axes, crosscut saws, scythes are regularly in use around the farm. In the blacksmith shop, among the overhead rafters, visitors can see one of the few traditional leather blacksmith's bellows in use in our state.

The Farm Grounds can be visited for a quiet walk, to attend a workshop, or as part of a school or adult tour group. Special weekend events such as maple sugaring, sheep shearing, and demonstrations of eighteenth and early nineteenth century skills, crafts, and farm work using materials and methods of the period are demonstrated throughout the year.

The Museum was incorporated in 1973. It is a non-profit educational institution that is supported by memberships, public and private grants, and donations.
